Available Commercial Software for Displaying and Manipulating Data

The Survey data images are simple pixmaps; there are no GIF, TIFF, or other headers imbedded in the image data. Be sure to select image display software which can handle "unformatted" image data.

1. SUN -

IDL: (Interactive Data Language), version 3.0 is a trademark of Research Systems Inc. This tool is a complete package for interactive analysis and visualization of scientific and engineering data. For further information, contact Research Systems, Inc. at (303) 786-9900.

KHOROS: This is an integrated software development environment for information processing and visualization. This software runs under X-Windows on the SUN.

Image Alchemy: This is a software utility that manipulates computer image files. A main function of this software is to convert between various graphics file formats. This software also can translate between a large variety of file formats including industry standards such as GIF, TIFF, PCX PDS, etc. In addition, this software can re-size an image, change the number of colors in an image, and change an image from color to black and white. 2. VAX/VMS -

PICS (Planetary Image Cartography System): The PICS Image Processing system is a set of computer programs and procedures designed to facilitate the acquisition, processing and handling of digital image data. MDIMDISP: This software can be used to display images on a DEC Vaxstation. For further information, contact PDS at (818) 306-6130.

3. PC -

IMDISP: This software is a general-purpose image display program. It supports EGA, VGA and numerous super-VGA display boards. This program is available and free to have a copy. For further information, contact Mike Martin at (818)306- 6038 (JPLDPS::MMA.RTIN on SPAN)

NIH Image: This software from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) provides a robust image display and manipulation program. This program is available and free to have a copy.
